After an Interruption

Have you ever been interrupted…at dinner, at work, or when talking to someone?  Some interruptions can be distracting from the task at hand, but others can be life changing.  We at Savannah Holy Church of God just finished our 2009 Campmeeting.  To say it was successful would be an understatement.  Many were blessed, some were saved, and others were baptized in the Holy Ghost for the first time.  It is great to know that God is still working in this day and hour!  The amazing aspect of Campmeeting this year was that the usual flow of a campmeeting was interrupted.  There was still morning preaching, there was still preaching at night, there was still singing, but this year the preaching and the music was interrupted more than ever by the Holy Ghost moving in the services.  God is preparing His people for His coming.  I want to highlight what we need to do after this interruption.

After an interruption in life you must remember where you were at, what you were doing, and what made you be there.  In Acts 2 the 120 were Holy Ghost baptized.  This 120 had to remember that Jesus spoke to the Apostles in Luke 24:49 telling them, “And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.”  The 120 had to remember that they were in the upper room in expectation of the Holy Ghost.  Remember where you were spiritually before this campmeeting and remember what you were seeking from this campmeeting.

The interruption on the Day of Pentecost made many reconsider their lives.  In John 21 we see the disciples fishing, like they did before Jesus called them.  Compare that to Acts 3, after the Day of Pentecost, Peter and John worked miracles, we see them glorifying Christ, and in Acts 4 we see them willing to face persecution.  They reconsidered their lives and decided it wasn’t about fishing anymore.  After such a mighty move of God we must reconsider our lives.  It should not be business as usual anymore, but rather living in the Spirit and by the Spirit.  If we live this way, we will do more for the kingdom of Jesus Christ and be prepared for His coming.

The interruption of the Holy Ghost caused the disciples to reach-out.  At the end of Acts 2 we see Peter preaching and reaching-out to lost souls.  Again, after the healing of the lame man in Acts 3:11 we see Peter reaching-out to those who witnessed.  In fact, the remaining chapters in Acts recount the followers of Jesus Christ reaching-out to lost souls – be they Jew or Greek, young or old, persecutors or kings – all were called to salvation.  Are we reaching-out enough?  Jesus promised His return to gather up the Church.  Lost family, lost friends, lost neighbors, and lost strangers will be in that state eternally if we do not reach-out and win them to Christ before His glorious coming.

If you are a visitor to our website we thank you for your visit.  We also reach-out to you and ask you to reconsider your life.  In Acts 2 three thousand reconsidered their lives and realized that they needed to accept Jesus as their Saviour and be saved.  During our Campmeeting we were able to see the glorious gift of salvation in several people’s lives.  Some of these people even considered themselves saved, but reconsidered the way they lived their lives and realized they were not sanctified and living separate from the sinful ways of this world.  Friend, come visit us and give the Holy Ghost the chance to speak into your life.

Be ready, Jesus is coming again!
