No Unreachable Place

Sunday’s message highlighted two realities: those things which seem unreachable, and the Savior whose hand is not shortened. Your “impossible” prayer request could be a soul needing transformation or a situation needing resolution. We have all stared down the gaping chasm between the reality we are experiencing now, and the way we wish things could be. Between the two lies a gap we cannot bridge. The healing, the restoration, the miracle… just feels out of reach.

On a frozen plateau in Antarctica, a landmark stands known at the Pole of Inaccessibility. There are actually eight of these Poles of Inaccessibility worldwide, all marked by an extreme geographic isolation. The Antarctic Pole of Inaccessibility, where temperatures regularly plunge to -70 degrees Fahrenheit, holds the title for the hardest to reach place on planet Earth.

And yet, if you were to happen upon a world map and squinted until you could find it, you could reach out and put your finger on it. The Unreachable Place. With no preparation or difficulty, you could reach it. Just as an astronaut, returning from a mission in space, could just as easily choose to land in the Pole of Inaccessibility as anywhere else in the world. There may be plenty of danger in the sea and obstacles to prevent it the whole continent wide. It makes no difference to him.

He’s coming from a different realm entirely. As is your hand, that can easily touch what cannot be reached. It reaches from a different dimension, completely unfazed by the chaos that may be happening in real time.

So what is your unreachable point? The place that you have strived after, prayed for, lost sleep over… Realize that the place you cannot get to is within His reach. He is not in the same category as us. Outside the realm of our possibility, is a God Who is not bound by difficulty. As easily as you can reach out and touch a point on a map, God can take hold of that unreachable place. For the One Who created all and is above all… there is no unreachable place.
